What is Busan Omuk (Kamaboko, fish paste)?...
Hot soup and oden are indispensable items at Busan street food stalls, and omuk (fish cake, fish paste), the main ingredient in oden, only became popular after wheat flour was imported from the United States in the 1950s. During the Korean War, it was a cheap source of protein for refugees, and during the industrialization era of the 1960s, it became a favorite main side dish for the general public.
Samjin Omuk, headquartered in Yeongdo, Busan, is a representative Korean omuk manufacturing company that has been in business for three generations since 1953.

In December 2013, with the launch of the Omuk Bakery, Samjin Omuk expanded its reach beyond mere street food to become a high-quality, nutritious food that can be used as a meal replacement or snack.
At this time, over 80 kinds of omeku were developed, made by mixing various ingredients such as beans, pumpkin, sweet potato, lotus root, paprika, and cheese with omeku, and among them, omeku croquette attracted the most attention.

Omukku Croquette
Various ingredients such as shrimp, curry, and pork are stuffed inside the omeku and then deep-fried like a croquette. The fish meat content, which has the greatest impact on the texture, has been increased to 90%, allowing you to fully enjoy the premium omeku flavor.

Near its main branch in Yeongdo, the company operates a multi-cultural space called Area Six and the Samjin Eomuk Experience and History Museum.
Samjin Ohmok currently operates 17 stores across the country, including in Busan, Seoul, Jeju, Daegu, and Incheon, as well as branches at Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon, Busan, Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch, and Busan Station.
