Seomyeon Market

Seomyeon Market

Seomyeon Market was established after the Korean War when refugees settled there, and is centered around a three-story market building that was constructed in the 1970s.

Located in the center of Busan, this was a thriving market, but it has since been drastically downsized to accommodate the construction of large stores such as the nearby Lotte Department Store, E-Mart Traders Seomyeon Branch, and Lotte Mart Busan Branch. Today, there are around 250 stores in operation, selling meat, fruit and vegetable, seafood, clothing, and general goods.

It is conveniently located just five minutes from Exits 1 and 2 of Seomyeon Subway Station, where Busan Subway Lines 1 and 7 intersect. It is also famous for its food rather than its shopping, with its kalguksu restaurants, traditional chicken and tteokbokki restaurants, and gourmet alleys, so it is always bustling with people.

The Daeji-gukbap Alley in Busan Seomyeon Market is a place where the sorrow and nostalgia of the June 6.25 refugees still remains.

In the alleys of the market, there are food stalls selling oden, tteokbokki, chijimi, gimbap, etc., and on the first floor of Seomyeon Market, there are restaurants selling fried food and set meals where you can come alone for a quick meal.

And since Seomyeon is a place visited by many foreigners, there are also currency exchange offices.
