Gyeongbu Line Sasang Station

Sasang Station in western Busan is a railway station where the Busan Urban Railroad, Busan Gimhae Light Rail Transit, and Western Intercity Bus Terminal are located, and a new station will open in 2022.

When you think of Sasang Station in western Busan, many people think of Sasang Station, which is served by subway line 2 and the Gimhae Light Railroad. If you walk up the hill above Sasang Station, you will come across Sasang Station on the Gyeongbu Line, where trains run. Sasang Station, a main freight station that opened in 1921, was opened on the Gaya Line in 1944. Today, the double-track railway project between Busan and Masan is underway, and there is a subway and intercity bus terminal, making it a growing hub for the western Busan area.

appearance
The existing Sasang Station building, built in 1958, was likely to be designated as a modern cultural heritage site, but was demolished due to construction work on the Bujeon-Masan Line. The new station building is currently in operation since April 2022, 4. The Adam-sized Silverton is a stylish design.

Currently, the elevator on the first floor is located at the entrance, and only the first floor is in normal operation. The underground section is currently under construction. There is also a Braille guide map at the entrance.

Gimhae Light Railroad Sasang Station

It is 300m away from Sasang Station of the light rail line and 2m away from Sasang Station of Subway Line 380, and the Gyeongjeon Line and Busan Line 5 (scheduled to open in 2026) under construction are also designed to build Sasang Station. When the new station building is completed, it will be an integrated station building and will have one floor above ground and two floors below ground if it becomes possible to transfer to the urban railway.

If you take the urban railroad between Bujeon and Sasang, you would have to travel 8 stations, but with this line, you can travel in just 1 station. This will drastically reduce your travel time!

Platform

At Sasang Station, you can reach the platform just past the railroad crossing. There are no barriers at the entrance to the platform, so you can enter by following the instructions of the station staff.

Operating train
Most trains on the Gyeongbu Line stop at the Mugunghwa trains, which run between Busan and Daejeon, Seoul, and Dongdaegu, while the Mugunghwa trains on the Gyeongjeon Line run to Suncheon and Mokpo. It takes about 6 hours and 30 minutes to travel from Sasang Station to Mokpo Station, and 5 hours and 32 minutes to travel from Sasang Station to Seoul Station on the Mugunghwa trains.

Sasang Station → Seoul, Dongdaegu, Suncheon
Sasang Station → Busan, Busan direction

The station is open from 5:40am to 10pm, not 24 hours. The first train is at 6:29am, Bujeon~Mokpo Mugunghwa train, and the last train is at 8:33pm, Suncheon~Bujeon Mugunghwa train.

There are few trains running from Sasang Station, so if you are using Sasang Station, be sure to check the operating times.

Bus stop in front of Sasang Station

There is a bus stop in front of Sasang Station. The name of the bus stop is "Korail Sasang Station." Buses such as Sasang Village Bus 1-1, 8, 61, 161, 186, and 1005 pass through the stop.

Sasang Station is quiet and has a different atmosphere from Busan Station where KTX trains run every hour. It will probably become even more lively once the construction of the Busan-Masan Line is completed, but it is a convenient station for those who are going on a sensory trip by taking the Mugunghwa train on the Gyeongbu Line.
