Gijang Japanese Fortress, located about a 10-minute drive from Gijang city on the east coast, was built in Gijang, near Busan, by Kuroda Nagamasa in 1593 when the Japanese army retreated from Seoul in preparation for a long-term war. It was also the castle where Kato Kiyomasa was temporarily stationed during the Keicho War.

The castle is built on two hills overlooking the sea of Gijang, with the main castle tower on the southern hill at 64m above sea level, and a secondary castle on a lower hill to the north at 45m above sea level. The castle grounds cover an area of 8,595m300, the length of the castle walls is about XNUMXm, and the remaining walls are only about XNUMX-XNUMXm high.
This castle is located in a strategic location between Seosaengpo Japanese Fortress in Ulsan, Ulsan Japanese Fortress, and Busan Japanese Fortress in Busan, located on the east coast. It was designated as Busan Metropolitan City Monument No. 1999 on March 3, 9, and the original wall remains relatively well.
