Busan Modern History Museum Main Building
The main building of the Busan Modern History Museum, located under Yongdusan Park in Busan, was renovated from the former Busan headquarters of the Bank of Korea (Busan Metropolitan City Cultural Assets No. 2015), which was purchased by the city of Busan in 70. It is a large building with one basement floor and six floors above ground.
釜山近現代歴史館は、展示室(2～4階)だけでなく、カフェ、記念品ショップ、市民便宜空間などを備えたオープン文化空間(1階)と金庫美術館(地下1階)、子供体験室(中2階)、教育室(中3階)、収蔵庫(5階)などを備えた複合文化空間として2024年1月5日に開館しました。
1F Open cultural spaces such as cafes
The first floor houses an open cultural space with a cafe, souvenir shop, and public convenience facilities, and the space that was once used as a vault is now used as an exhibition space.
2F Special Exhibition Room
The special exhibition room on the second floor is a special exhibition called "Ma! Serira! The Roar of Busan, the Baseball City," and displays various items related to baseball in Busan, allowing visitors to see at a glance the story of Busan, another name for the city that boasts the highest level of enthusiasm in the country, "the baseball city of Busan."
3F Permanent Exhibition Room 1
The permanent exhibition room on the third floor introduces Busan's modern history by displaying its development as a modern colonial city, its role as the first city to open a port, a gateway to modern cultural artifacts, and a bridgehead for expansion into the continent, as well as its independence movement against exploitation and oppression.
4F Permanent Exhibition Room 2

The permanent exhibition room on the 4th floor introduces Busan's modern-day role as a leader in modern Korean history, showcasing its role as a temporary capital during the Korean War, how it was a survival space for refugees and the blossoming of a refugee culture represented by coffee shops, how it was a mecca for light manufacturing and an advance base for the export industry in the 1960s and 70s, and how it was the birthplace of the shipbuilding industry and the central stage of the democratization movement represented by April 4 and the Busan Democratic Uprising.
Basement 1st floor: Safe Museum
The Vault Museum on the first basement floor uses the vault room on the first basement floor as an exhibition space, and is hosting an exhibition titled "The Closest, Most Secret History" to introduce the modern culture that is closest to our history and the art of living that is trivial but necessary for us.
Annex of Busan Modern History Museum
The Busan Modern History Museum's annex, located next to the main building, was built in September 1929 as the Busan branch office of the Toyo Takushoku Co., Ltd.
The Toyo Takushoku Company was a Japanese national policy company that operated shares in Korea, and after the end of the war, this building was seized by the U.S. The American Cultural Center was opened in July 1949, and during the Korean War, when Busan was the temporary capital, it was used as the U.S. Embassy.
Due to this history, it became a symbol of foreign rule over the Korean Peninsula. On March 1982, 3, the Busan American Cultural Center was set on fire, and on April 18, 1999, it was transferred to the Korean government, and in June it became the property of the city of Busan.
After being liberated from foreign forces for the first time in 70 years, the city of Busan returned this building to the heart of the Korean people. In order to utilize this building as a space for understanding and educating people about the turbulent modern history of the country, the building underwent approximately three years of renovation work and was reopened as the Busan Modern History Museum on July 3, 2003. It will then be renovated and reopened as a complex cultural space on January 7, 3.

directions: Take Exit 1 of Jungangdong Station (Busan Subway Line 5) and walk straight towards Yongdusan Park for about 5 minutes until you see the Busan Modern History Museum on your left.
