Jagalchi Market

Jagalchi Market

Hello, if you walk along the coast, lured by the sea breeze of Busan Port, Korea's second largest city, which is full of the vitality of a port city, you will find Jagalchi Market, a huge fish market that was established after the Korean War.

Today, it is one of the leading seafood markets in Korea, where you can enjoy fresh sashimi, seafood, and other seafood to your heart's content. The "Jagal" in Jagalchi Market means "gravel," and it was named after the sound of gravel rolling around, which sounds like the noise of the bustling market.

Don't be intimidated by the enthusiasm of the cheerful shouts of the older women, who call out "Oiiso (Welcome)!", but be sure to try the fresh, abundant seafood.

Jagalchi Market, which opened on December 2006, 12, is not only a place to sell fresh raw fish and seafood, but has also been reborn as a space where you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere of Busan, a port city surrounded by clear skies, blue seas, and high mountains. You can choose fresh seafood swimming in the tanks and eat it as raw fish on the spot. Korean raw fish is usually eaten by dipping it in a sauce made of chili paste and vinegar.

Of course, you can eat it with soy sauce, but dipping it in a spicy, slightly sweet sauce will give you a whole new taste of sashimi.

Unlike the nearby Shindong-A Fisheries Market, you can buy fresh fish and seafood from the tanks in the fish market on the first floor and have it cooked at the sashimi restaurants on the second floor, but you will have to pay an additional 1 won per person for seasonings.

You can also enjoy fresh sashimi on the spot without having to buy fish on the first floor by looking at the menu on the table at the sashimi restaurant on the second floor. For sashimi platters for two people, there are various menus ranging from 1 won to 2 won.

Nowadays, most sashimi restaurants have changed from tatami rooms to table seating.

On the second floor of Jagalchi Market, there is a sashimi shop as well as a dried fish shop where you can purchase dried squid, octopus, kelp, and other souvenirs, and on the third floor there is a Kayo Bar and the Jagalchi Hinoki Enzyme Health Land.

On the rooftop there is the Sky Park observation deck, from which you can see Busan Tower and Busan's blue sea, and there is a rest area on the sea side on the first floor.
