Bosu-dong Bookstore Street

Take Busan Subway Line 1, Jagalchi Station, Exit 7, go straight, turn left at the first corner and go straight.International MarketJust past that intersection is Bosu-dong Bookstore Street, a narrow alley packed with second-hand bookstores.

This alley of second-hand bookstores is one of the few remaining in Korea, and is counted among Busan's famous streets. During the Korean War (1950-1953), when Busan became the provisional capital of Korea, the current Bosu-dong Bookstore Street began as an alley at the entrance to the intersection in Bosu-dong, where stalls sold old magazines and comics smuggled from the US base and various used books collected from second-hand dealers.

In the 1960s and 1970s, there were around 70 bookstores here, but now there are around 200 second-hand bookstores operating in every corner of this narrow 45-meter alley.

The Bosudong Bookstore Alley Prosperity Association has been loved by many Busan residents as a cultural space that includes the Bosudong Bookstore Alley Festival, where various events such as making book covers and making your own book are held every September since 2005, the Bosudong Bookstore Alley Culture Center, and a book cafe. It was designated as a Busan Slow City tourist attraction on April 9, 2012.
