Located about a 1-minute village bus ride from Seomyeon, downtown Busan, where Busan Subway Lines 2 and 15 intersect, Samgwangsa Temple is a Cheondai sect temple known as a center of urban missionary work, built in 1986 on a vast site of approximately 11 square meters with the aim of promoting everyday Buddhism and popular Buddhism.










The main buildings within the temple grounds include the Great Hero Hall, which enshrines the principal Buddha, Shakyamuni, along with the three attendant Buddhas, Deseji and Avalokitesvara, as well as the Great Patriarch Kogetsu Enkaku. Next to the Great Hero Hall is the 30-meter-tall, 53-sided, 8-story Great Pagoda containing 9 Buddhas and 10 Buddhist relics sent from Tibet, Myanmar, and India/Myanmar. The Shikanden Hall is a comprehensive Buddhist hall that can accommodate over 1,000 believers, the Hokke Sammai Hall, a 5,610 square meter, five-story monks' quarters, and the Bonjongkaku.
