Hello, on the way to Taejongdae Park in Yeongdo, there is Korea Maritime University, and on the right side of the fork in the road to the university is Dongsam-dong Shell Mound. Located in Dongsam-dong, Yeongdo-gu, Busan, Dongsam-dong Shell Mound is a shell mound site that was used as a garbage dump in the Neolithic Age and is designated as Historic Site No. 266.
Formed over a long period from the early to late Neolithic period, it is known as one of the most representative Neolithic sites on the southern coast of Korea. In particular, obsidian from Kyushu, Japan, and Jomon pottery have been excavated from this site, revealing the ancient exchanges between Japan and Korea through the sea.
In 1930, it was partially excavated by Shozaburo Yokoyama, Tamijiro Oikawa and others, and test excavations were carried out by A. Mohr of the University of Wisconsin and others in 1963-1964. Full-scale excavation was carried out by the National Museum of Korea over a period of three years from 1969 to 1971.

Three major cultural layers were identified, and many artifacts were excavated, including plain pottery with no design, pottery with raised lines that has a clay band around the outside of the pottery, comb-patterned pottery that is representative of the Neolithic period, bone products made from animal bones, stone tools, etc. Carbon dating of the charcoal excavated also determined that the ruins dated to around 3 BC to 4790 BC.
In addition, three other dwelling sites from different periods and Korea's oldest earthenware burial tomb were unearthed. In particular, millet and sorghum were unearthed at Dwelling Site No. 3, which are important materials for studying the living conditions and culture of the time, and are a testament to the food culture of the Neolithic period.
The one-story Dongsamdong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, which consists of Exhibition Hall 1 and Exhibition Hall 1, opened in 2.
