On January 30th, Busan City announced that the three festivals selected for the 2026-2027 Culture and Tourism Festivals announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have been finalized: the Busan International Rock Festival, the Dongnaeupseong History Festival, and the Gwangalli Eobang Festival.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected 27 festivals from across the country as this year's "Culture and Tourism Festivals" after comprehensively considering the competitiveness of festival content, visitor satisfaction, and the ripple effect on the local community based on the evaluations over the past two years. Busan has reaffirmed its position as a leading tourist city in Korea with its diverse festivals that combine music and history.

In particular, the Busan International Rock Festival and Dongnaeupseong History Festival were newly designated this year, while the Gwangalli Eobang Festival was named for the eighth consecutive year since 2020. The Busan International Rock Festival is the longest-running rock festival in Korea and a representative festival that has played a major role in Busan's development into a global music city. Every year, top artists from both Korea and abroad participate, adding to the excitement of the music festival in the city center.

The Dongnaeupseong History Festival vividly recreates Busan's history and traditions through a parade and experience programs themed on the Battle of Dongnaeseong during the Imjin War. The Gwangalli Fishing Festival reinterprets Busan's fishing culture in a modern way and is positioned as an experience-based festival where citizens can harmonize with the scenery of Gwangalli Beach.
