-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nampo-dong is one of the areas with the highest population density in Busan and is known as the center of Busan. Until the early 1990s, it was the city's most bustling shopping district and the administrative, economic and social center.
Generally, Nampo-dong is narrow and refers to the downtown area from BIFF Street to Gwangbok-dong, but in a broader sense, it can also refer to the metropolitan area including Shinchang-dong, Changseon-dong, Bupyeong-dong, Gwangbok-dong, Jungang-dong, and Jagalchi.
Nampo-dong is the birthplace of modern Busan, and its old town and location next to the sea make it a very suitable tourist destination. It is also home to major tourist attractions such as Busan Tower and Jagalchi Market. Nampo-dong also has a wide variety of restaurants, offering a wide range of cuisine from Korean food such as siat hotteok and tteokbokki to foreign cuisine such as Thai, Indian, and Vietnamese.
There is also a long underground shopping mall that stretches from Jagalchi Station to Nampo Station on the Busan Subway.
