Jagalchi Grilled Mackerel Street

Hello, Jagalchi Market, a famous tourist spot and fish market in Busan that is always bustling with tourists and shoppers, opens early in the morning and becomes an even more vibrant market as customers and merchants come seeking fresh seafood. There are also restaurants in Jagalchi Market that cater to the people who work there from early in the morning.

If you exit from Exit 6 of Jagalchi Station on Busan Metro Line 1 and turn right at the corner directly in front of you, you will see four restaurants lined up on your left, where women are grilling mackerel, filling the air with a delicious aroma.　

I went into the restaurant at the recommendation of the woman who was grilling mackerel, and when I sat down at a table in the not-so-spacious restaurant, the woman laid out a variety of side dishes on the table, including napa cabbage kimchi, bean sprouts, shredded daikon radish salad, pickled chili peppers, wakame seaweed salad, miso stew with tofu, miso soup, plenty of rice, and grilled mackerel.

Seeing the mountain-high piles of white rice, typical of rural Korea, really conveys the thoughtfulness of the women who serve it.
