On the west side of Gyeongju cityTomb of King Taejong MuyeolThe triangular mountain where the Seoak-ri Tomb Group and King Silla (the 29th king of Silla) are located is Seondosan Mountain. The Silla people considered the area near the peak of Seondosan Mountain to be the Western Pure Land, and carved the Amitabha Triad here.
The 6.85m-tall standing Tathagata statue is carved into andesite, which is difficult to carve, and on the left is Avalokitesvara (4.55m-tall) wearing a jeweled crown and holding a purification bottle, and on the right is Daeshiba (4.62m-tall) standing with a gentle smile. Based on the carving technique, it is estimated to have been a work from around the 7th century during Unified Silla, but the two attendant bodhisattvas were carved from granite brought from another site.
