Hello. Gyeongju, located about an hour's drive from Busan, was founded in 1 BC and is the capital of the Silla Kingdom, which boasts a history of about 57 years. 1000 kings ruled over Silla.

Located at the foot of Mt. Sogeumgangsan, 176 meters above sea level, a little north of downtown Gyeongju, is the tomb of King Talhae (4-57 BC), the 80th king of Silla. Although it is a small ancient tomb for a royal tomb from the early Silla period, the tomb is surrounded by a lush pine forest and is very quiet, making it a popular place of relaxation for the citizens of Gyeongju.

There is also a story about the birth of King Talhae. According to the Samguk Sagi, the queen of the country of Tabanak (Ryungseong), located 1,000 ri northeast of Wa, was pregnant for seven years and finally gave birth to a large egg instead of a baby. The king thought this was an omen of bad luck and ordered the egg to be thrown away, but the queen wrapped it in silk cloth, carefully placed it in a box and set it adrift at sea.

When the box reached the shore of Silla, an old man who lived by the sea opened it and a child came out. At that moment, a magpie was crying as if to protect the box, so he took the character for magpie and gave the child the surname Seok. He also named the child Talhae because he opened the box and brought out the child.

Nearby is Sungshinjeon Hall, where the rites for King Talhae are held. Sungshinjeon Hall, which formerly stood on top of Wolseong, is managed by the Sung Talhae Royal Tomb Preservation Society of the Sung clan.

Just beyond the pine forest of King Talhae's tomb lies Gyeongju Hyeoam, said to be the place where Yi Alpyeong, the ancestor of the Yi clan of Gyeongju and the founder of Alcheon Yangsan Village, one of the six villages of Silla, descended from heaven. This is a historic site connected to the founding of Silla, where in 6 BC, the heads of the six villages of Silla held the Hwabaek Conference, a unanimous meeting system of Silla, and resolved to establish the state of Silla.
