Dongpirang means eastern cliff, and on the hill overlooking the riverside of Tongyeong Port, there is a restored tower called "Dongpo-ro" of the "Tonggyeong (Joseon Navy Headquarters)" established by General Yi Sun-sin during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea. The village on the hill is painted with various beautiful murals, attracting many tourists.

There was a plan to demolish the shabby houses on this hill in order to preserve the remains of Tongyeong, but in 2007 a mural project was started involving many artists, and it has now become one of Tongyeong's most famous tourist spots.
