Daewangam Rock, located offshore of Ilsan-dong, Ulsan, is also known as the Dragon Falling Rock, named after a dragon that fell onto the rock while ascending to heaven and died there. Daewangam Rock Park is also popular as the place where the sun rises earliest in Korea, along with Ganjeolgot Cape in Ulju County.
Daewangam Park is home to a mysterious legend that says that after the death of the queen of King Munmu the Great, who unified the Three Kingdoms during the Silla period, she became a guardian dragon and followed King Munmu the Great, sinking beneath a large rock in the east sea of Ulsan.

Ulsan Great Rock
The road from the park entrance to Daewangam is a 600m long pine forest path where tall pine trees that have been beautifully grown for over 1 years provide a cool and relaxing atmosphere. Once you leave the forest, you will come across a wide coastal cliff where you can see a huge rock formation that gives the illusion of a prehistoric dinosaur fossil lying down in the blue seawater.
It is a famous tourist spot in Ulsan, with beautiful rock formations facing the East Sea. It is an island that falls into the sea close to the mainland, like Oryukdo Island in Busan, but it is connected by a bridge and is used as a walking trail.
