Anjirang Gopchang Street

Anjirang Market, which was established on the road from Anjirang Junction to Anjirang Valley in Apsan, has left its glittering reputation behind and is now a Gopchang alley lined with Gopchang restaurants. Starting with Chungbuk Restaurant around 1979, the number of restaurants making a living from the IMF in 1998 has increased, and continues to this day.

Anjirang Gopchang Street is so famous that even people who don't like Gopchang have heard of it at least once. The moment you leave Exit 1 of Anjirang Station on Daegu Subway Line 3, your eyes will be drawn to the smell of Gopchang being grilled over charcoal briquettes and the rows of Gopchang restaurants. Founded in 1979, the area soon grew to over 50 restaurants, and Gopchang Street was completed in 2005.

Anjirang Gopchang Street is a place where you can enjoy hearty pork gopchang and pork makchang at reasonable prices. It is a casual hangout spot for the general public, and in recent years it has evolved into a youth district led by the younger generation.

The secrets to holding the chewy yatsui vary from small baskets of seasoned gopchang to makchang grilled whole and cut into bite-sized pieces, but a full plate of gopchang is enough for two or three people. The sauce, made with Korean miso, minced garlic and chili peppers, is a unique feature of Daegu gopchang restaurants.
