Andong City, located in the center of the northern part of North Gyeongsang Province in central-eastern Korea, is known worldwide as the birthplace of Korean Confucianism, and is an area where Korea's ancient traditional culture thrives, with rows of traditional houses still remaining, earning it the nickname "Korea within Korea."
About 20km west of Andong Bus Terminal, there are many places where Buddhist and Confucian cultures still remain, such as Hahoe Folk Village, which was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2010, Byeongsanseowon Seowon, Bongjeongsa Seowon, and Dosanseowon Seowon. Andong's specialties include Andong jjimtak (steamed chicken), Kanggo Deungeo set meal (salted mackerel set meal), and Andong soju.
