Andong Folk Village was established in 1976 as an open-air museum of Andong Folk Museum to preserve the folk cultural assets of the area that was to be submerged by the construction of Andong Dam.

At the entrance to the village, there are two jangseung (logs with human faces carved into them), and next to them is a monument to the poet Yi Yuk-sa (1904-1944), who was born in Andong. If you go up the hill to the left, you will see thatched and tiled houses lined up along the road, giving you a glimpse of how people lived in the past.

Filming location of the drama "Taejo Wang Geon"
If you go past the folk village and continue up the hill, you will come to the filming location of the TV drama "Taejo Wang Geon," where you can see the Goryeo era government offices, prisons, and private homes that were used in the filming.
The reason why this place was chosen as the filming location for the drama is because of the historical background that when Wang Geon (the first king of Goryeo, reigned 918-943) founded the Goryeo Dynasty (AD 918-1392), the nobles of Andong supported him and helped him. If you have time, it would be interesting to visit this filming location.
