Gangneung City, located about 2018 minutes by car east from the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium, where the 30 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics will be held, faces the broad East Sea to the east, and in the northwest is Odaesan National Park, 1,563 meters above sea level, where a branch of the Taebaek Mountains extends eastward. In addition, to the west, Pyeongchang County, where the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics will be held, is located across the Daegwallyeong pass, 832 meters above sea level.
