Goseong-gun, located about 1 hour and 50 minutes from Busan Western Intercity Bus Terminal, is an area located on the southern coast of Gyeongsangnam-do, bordering Changwon to the east, Sacheon to the west, Haman to the north, and the sea to the south, making it an advantageous location for securing a trade network connecting sea and land routes. Taking advantage of this location, Sogaya, one of the ancient Gaya countries, prospered as a city, and the Songhak-dong Tomb of that time is located in the north of the city.
Tourist attractions include the metropolitan parks of Yeonghwasan Mountain and Okcheonsa Temple, the Danghangpo Tourist Area, site of the Danghangpo Naval Battle of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who played an active role in the Imjin War, the Sokseong County Park, which has Mesozoic dinosaur footprints, and the Goseong Dinosaur Museum. Part of the remains of Goseong Japanese Fortress, which was built during the Keicho War (1597), remain behind the Goseong County Office.
