Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park

Many tourists visit this mountain pass road from the Joseon Dynasty, which connects Gyeongsang Province and Seoul over a short distance.

Hello, Mungyeongsaejae, located almost halfway between Busan and Seoul, was a pass that played an important role as a road on the Yeongnamdaero road that connected the Yeongnam region (Gyeongsang-do) and Hanyang (Seoul) in a short distance during the Joseon Dynasty. It has been a strategic military location since ancient times, so much so that Toyotomi Hideyoshi's army, which landed at Busan Port on April 1592, 4, crossed Mungyeongsaejae to advance north to Hanyang. Today, the three gates built after the Imjin War (the Bunroku-Keicho War) tell the story of its history.

The approximately 6.5 km walking trail stretches from the first gate, Juheul Gate, to the second gate, Jogyoku Gate, and the third gate, Joryeong Gate. There are also cultural assets such as an open set where Korean historical drama movies and TV dramas are filmed, and the Joryeongwon site, which was once a lodging facility for travelers crossing Sejae. This provincial park is bustling with hikers heading to the third gate at the top of Sejae, and tourists who hike to the second gate and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.

This site introduces old Korean roads that connect the provinces with Seoul.Jekil Museumis at the entrance to Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park, and there is a paid electric car that runs between the museum and the Korean drama set. In addition, the park's food court offers local Mungyeong cuisine, such as bibimbap with wild vegetables and charcoal-grilled pork set meals. Mungyeongsaejae means a steep pass (jae) that even birds (se) cannot fly over.
