Hello, Tongyeong Chungnyeolsa, located in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, is a shrine built to honor Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who played a major role as the Navy Commander during the Imjin War. The reason the shrine was built here is because the stage where Yi Sun-sin was active wasTongyeong Hansan IslandSince they were centered around this shrine, their memorial tablets are enshrined at Namhae Chungnyeolsa and Tongyeong Chungnyeolsa.




It was founded by the 39th Commander Lee Ung-yeon by order of the king in the 1606th year of the reign of King Seong-il (7), and in the 4th year of the reign of King Hyeonjong (1663), it was given a plaque with the characters Chungnyeolsa engraved on it by the king, along with Namhae Chungnyeolsa. Since then, successive Commanders of the Navy have held rites there every spring and fall.
The temple grounds include the main hall, main gate, middle gate, outer three gates, Dongseojae, Gyeongchungjae, Sungmudang, Ganghannu and the Relics Exhibition Hall. There are also many monuments, including the Monument to the Shrine of Inspector General Chungmu Yi Gong, which was erected by Inspector General Min Seom in his 7s in the 1681th year of the reign of King Sukjong (60).

Also on display in the Relics Exhibition Hall are the Eight Gifts of the Ming Dynasty (Treasure No. 8: Commander's Seal, Order Plaque, Demon Knife, Slashing Knife, Commander's Flag, Red Small Order Flag, Blue Small Order Flag, and Qurad-gang), given by Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty of China, as well as a copy of the Complete Book of Chungmugongseo published by King Jeongjo, the 440nd king of the Joseon Dynasty, and a memorial text written by the king himself.
