A museum in Changnyeong County in the ancient Gaya culture area known as Bihgayya
Hello, in the Nakdong River basin that flows through the west of Busan, the Gaya United Kingdom, which had deep ties with ancient Japan, flourished until the 6th century. Among them, Changnyeong County in Gyeongsangnam-do, where the Gaya power, also known as Hihgaya, was located, was geographically closest to the powerful country of Silla at the time, and the town was in the ancient Gaya cultural sphere, where the "Changnyeong Silla King Jinheung Takkyong Monument (National Treasure No. 24)" of King Jinheung, the 33th king of Silla, was discovered, indicating that it was completely annexed to Silla at least around the mid-6th century.
Changnyeonggyodong Tomb Group






Located in the Gaya Tomb Group in Gyori, Changnyeong-eup, Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, Changnyeong Museum is housed within the Changnyeong Gyo-dong Gaya Tomb Group (Historic Site No. 80), and exhibits archaeological artifacts excavated in Changnyeong from the prehistoric to the Gaya period. Opened in March 1996, the one-story building with one basement and one above ground level, the museum is adjacent to the Gyo-dong Tomb Group, located at the western foot of Mt. Hwawangsan, 3 meters above sea level. The museum houses a permanent exhibition room, a special exhibition room, and an outdoor facility called the Gyeseong Tomb Relocation and Restoration Hall, where one of the large tombs from the Gyeseong Tomb Group was relocated and restored.













The museum exhibits 166 relics from 270 categories (earthenware, horse equipment, accessories, weapons, etc.) from the Gaya and Silla periods, mainly those excavated from the Gyodong and Gyeseong tombs. In addition, a model of the construction process of the Gaya tombs is displayed in the museum lobby, providing an explanation.
