Kamitoyama Castle

Sangdangsanseong Fortress, which surrounds the top of a mountain adjacent to Cheongju city in Chungcheongbuk-do, is a large-scale mountain fortress with stone walls covering an area of ​​about 22 square meters and a total length of 4.2 miles. The name Sangdangsanseong comes from the fact that the Cheongju region was called Sangdang-hyeon in Baekje during the Three Kingdoms period.

Sangdangsanseong Fortress, which is said to have been built as an earthen fortress during the Baekje period, has a record in the Samguk Sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) that Kim Yu-shin's third son, Kim So-hyeon (Duke Won Jeong), built it as Seowon Solseong Fortress. It was later renovated during the Imjin War in 29 (the 1596th year of King Seonjo's reign) during the Joseon Dynasty, and in the 18th century it was extensively renovated into a stone fortress, and has remained as it is today.

Currently, three gates remain, and there are many restaurants for tourists visiting the fortress. It is also famous as a filming location for the TV dramas "The Legend" and "Daejoyeong." Historic Site No. 212
