Bowonsa Temple Site in Seosan

Bowonsa Temple Site, located in Unsan-myeon, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, is a temple where many Buddhist relics dating back to the Baekje and Goryeo periods have been discovered. Remains that tell the tale of those times include the 4-meter-tall flagpole support (Treasure No. 103), the five-story stone pagoda (Treasure No. 104), the stone tank (Treasure No. 102), Beopin Koksa Bojo Pagoda (978, Treasure No. 105), and the pagoda monument (Treasure No. 106).

The gilt bronze standing Tathagata statue excavated from the Bowonsa Temple site is believed to have been made in the mid-6th century, while the Goryeo period iron seated Tathagata statue and the iron seated Buddha statue are preserved at the Buyeo National Museum and the National Museum of Korea, respectively.
