Hello. The Gochang Dolmen Site, the largest in South Korea, is located in Gochang County, North Jeolla Province, about 50 minutes northwest of Gwangju City, South Jeolla Province.

In Gochang, you can see a wide variety of dolmens, including the "Southern Style," which has a go-board style with megaliths placed on short stone pillars, the Northern Style, which has a table style, and the Lidstone Style, which has a cover stone placed directly on top of the stone chamber.
A total of about 1550 dolmens are scattered at the foot of the mountain for about 1.8 kilometers from east to west in the area including Jukrim-ri, where the Gochang Dolmen Museum is located, to Sangga-ri, Dosan-ri, Bongdeok-ri, and Ungok-ri.






Gochang Dolmen Course 1
Dolmen on the mountain ridge. There are a total of 53 dolmens and dolmen ruins in two clusters, with a variety of dolmens including table and goban style. The weight of the upper stone ranges from 4 tons to 53 tons.





Gochang Dolmen Course 2
A total of 41 dolmens and their remains are clustered on the flat land, including some very heavy dolmens, such as the top stone weighing 169 tons.

Gochang Dolmen Museum

The three-story dolmen museum, which opened in 2008, has a special exhibition room on the first floor and a permanent exhibition room on the second floor that recreates the lives of people who lived in the Gochang area during the Bronze Age and displays the history and distribution of Gochang dolmens in an easy-to-understand manner.
On the third floor there is an experience learning room, and in the outdoor exhibition area there is a prehistoric village from the Bronze Age where visitors can experience dolmens for themselves.
