Overlooking Busan Port, Busan Wasei is located in Masuyama Park, about 130 meters above sea level, from which the Japanese island of Tsushima can be seen across Busan Port.
In the 15th century, there was a castle called Busanjinseong from the Joseon Dynasty that was built to defend Busanpo from the invasion of Japanese pirates. However, on April 1592, 4, it fell to Konishi Yukinaga and Mune Yoshitomo, members of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's first army to land at Busanpo and dispatch troops to Korea. Mori Terumoto and Mori Hidemoto then built a new castle on this plateau over a period of about five months from March to August 13.
From the early stages of the war until Toyotomi Hideyoshi's death in 1598 and his withdrawal to Japan, the castle was used as a base for war supplies and other goods sent from Tsushima in Japan for six years.
