Goseong Castle

Goseong County, located about two hours from Busan, is a popular town with children, with attractions such as the Goseong Dinosaur Museum. Of the eight Japanese castles built in 2 when the Keicho War broke out, including Suncheon Japanese Castle, Ulsan Japanese Castle, and Sacheon Seonjin-ri Japanese Castle, part of the walls of Goseong Japanese Castle, built by Tachibana Muneshige and others, remains in a residential area behind the Goseong County Office.

Goseong Waeseong Fortress, which was built by renovating the former Goseong Eupseong Fortress, was once home to around 7,000 Japanese troops. However, there is now very little trace of its former self, and it has been developed into a residential area.

Excavations are also being conducted on the Eupseong and Waeseong castles that are mixed in with the residential areas of Goseong City, but the blue tarp wall is where the Japanese and Korean walls are connected. You might come across something surprisingly interesting while strolling around looking for traces of history in the city.

Also, within walking distance of Goseong city, there is the Goseong Museum, which exhibits the ancient tombs of the Little Gaya Kingdom and artifacts excavated from the tombs, so be sure to check it out as well.
