Maneosa Temple, Miryang

Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, a city neighboring Busan, is home to many mystical places. Three of these are known as the Three Mysteries of Miryang: the Ice Valley, where ice freezes even in summer; the Pyochungbi Monument at Pyochungsa Temple, where people sweat when the country faces difficulties; and the Maneosa Temple chimeseki, which is said to produce a clear bell or the sound of iron when struck.

Among them, Miryang Maneosa Temple is a place with many mystical sights to see in addition to the stone that makes a clear sound.

Maneosa Temple is a branch temple of Tongdosa Temple, located on Maneosan Mountain, 670 meters above sea level. It is said to have been founded by King Suro, the founder of the Garak Kingdom.

The Man'yosan rock massif has been designated as a national cultural property, "Natural Monument No. 528."

The legend behind Mangyosa Temple

The name Maneosa Temple comes from the fact that when the poisonous dragon and the five Rakshasas in the pond called Okji committed various evil deeds, King Suro asked the Buddha to preach to them and received the five precepts. At that time, many fish and dragons in the East Sea were influenced by the Buddha's teachings and turned to stone, and the stones rang out mysterious bells. King Suro built a temple to commemorate this, and named it Maneosa Temple after the school of fish that turned to stone.

Maneosa Temple is not a big temple, but it is a small and beautiful temple. The view from the temple is amazing, and the sea of ​​clouds seen from Maneosa Temple is one of the most beautiful views in Miryang.
