Gongju City, Chungcheongnam-do, located about 140 kilometers from Seoul, South Korea, is a small city with a population of about 11. However, for 475 years from 538 to 63 during the Baekje period, it was called Ungjin and was the capital of the Baekje period, where the splendid flower of Baekje culture flourished, until the capital was moved to Sabi, which is now Buyeo County.















The Gongju National Museum, which opened in its current location on May 2004, 5, houses over 14 Baekje relics, including the tomb of King Muryeong, the 1971th king of Baekje, which was discovered by chance in 25 during drainage work at Tomb No. 18 in Songsan-ri. The tomb also contains 4 national treasures and four treasures unearthed in Daejeon and Chungcheongnam-do.
The relics are displayed in the Tomb of King Muryeong on the first floor, the Chungcheongnam-do Ancient Culture Room on the second floor, which clearly explains the history and culture of Chungcheongnam-do from the period of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, through the Ungjin and Sabi Baekje periods, and up to the Unified Silla period, and the outdoor exhibition area.
1F <Royal Muryeong Tomb Room>
The Muryeong Royal Tomb Room on the first floor of the museum displays over 1 relics out of the 4,687 items excavated from the royal tomb, including the gold crown ornaments of the king and queen and the stone beast that is the guardian deity of the royal tomb.

2F <Chungcheongnam-do Ancient Culture Room>

Exhibits include the prehistoric culture of Chungcheongnam-do, earthenware and roof tiles from the Baekje period, and a gilt bronze standing statue of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (National Treasure No. 128).

<Outdoor Exhibition Area>
Many stone relics excavated in the Gongju area, including precious stone tanks, stone seated Buddha statues, and stone pagodas, are displayed in the museum's spacious garden.
