The temple is home to the Tripitaka Koreana of Haeinsa Temple, the 52nd national treasure and World Heritage Site, and the 32nd national treasure and World Documentary Heritage, the XNUMXnd Tripitaka Koreana of Goryeo.
Hello. Haeinsa Temple, which is always bustling with many believers and tourists visiting the World Heritage Site, is located deep in the mountains south of Gayasan, which is designated as a national park.

Haeinsa Temple is one of the Ten Hwagon Temples of the Korean Hwagon School, and is counted among the Three Treasure Temples of Buddhism, Law, and Sangha along with Tongdosa Temple in Yangsan and Songgwangsa Temple in Suncheon. Of the Three Treasure Temples, it is known as the Beopbosa Temple because it houses the Tripitaka Koreana, a collection of 80,000 Korean texts from Goryeo, which are carefully engraved with the teachings of Buddha in relief on woodblocks.

The "Kaiin" in Kaiinsa Temple is derived from the "Kaiin Samadhi" in the Avatamsaka Sutra, which means "Just as the images of all things are reflected as they are on the waveless surface of the ocean, the truth of all things is reflected as they are in a mind free of worldly desires and delusions."

Haeinsa Temple's Tripitaka Koreana Hall, National Treasure No. 52 and World Heritage Site, is believed to have been constructed in the 1398th century to store the 8 woodblocks of the Tripitaka Koreana that were brought to Haeinsa Temple from Ganghwa Island in 15 during the Yi Dynasty. Haeinsa has experienced seven major fires since its founding, but fortunately this building was spared. The Tripitaka Koreana Hall, the oldest of Haeinsa's current buildings, is the only building in the world dedicated to storing the Tripitaka Koreana woodblocks, and was scientifically designed to maximize the beauty of the building and the natural environment, including ventilation, moisture prevention, and maintaining an appropriate temperature.

The Haeinsa Tripitaka is considered to be the oldest surviving Tripitaka in the world.
