A building that enshrines the portrait of Yi Seong-gye (Taejo), the founder of the Joseon Dynasty.
Located in Jeonju CityJeonju Hanok VillageGyeonggijeon, located in Cheonjuhanok Village, was built in 1410 to house the portrait of King Taejo, the founder of the Joseon Dynasty (Historic Site No. 339). The current building was restored in 1597 after being destroyed during the Keicho Invasion of Korea in 1614.



The grounds include the True Hall, which houses the remains of Yi Seong-gye (Taejo), and the Chogyeongmyo Shrine, where the memorial tablets of Yi Han, the founder of the Jeonju Yi clan, and his wife, the Gyeongju Kim clan, were enshrined in 1771 (the 47th year of King Yeongjo's reign).





In addition, there is the Jeonju History Repository, which was built to store the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, which records the history of the Yi dynasty. There is also a placenta chamber and stone monument containing the umbilical cord and placenta of King Yejong, the 8th king of the Joseon Dynasty. As the history of the Yi dynasty is still preserved here, it has been used as a filming location for historical dramas such as "Empress Myeongseong," "The Palace," and "Dragon's Tears."
