Seokbulsa Temple, Masuyama

Hello, it was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2015.Mirokuji Temple SiteAbout 3km north of here, there is a stone Buddha statue and halo believed to have been made during the Baekje period. Excavations conducted by the Mahan Baekje Culture Research Institute in 156 and 1989 have revealed that the stone Buddha statue at Seokbulsa Temple, which is 2011cm tall (excluding the recently created Buddha head), is believed to be a stone Buddha statue from the Baekje period carved in the first half of the 2th century.

The exact date of Seokbulsa Temple's founding is unknown, but based on tiles and foundation stones from the Baekje period that were excavated around the temple, it is believed to have been built in the 600s during the reign of King Mu of Baekje (600-641). The current temple was built in 1963 when the current stone Buddha was discovered here, which had been abandoned, and in August 1965, a temple was built to protect the stone Buddha and was named Seokbulsa. The temple has also been featured in the media as the stone Buddha sweats when the country experiences a disaster, and it is a temple that attracts many tourists.
