Naju Daeanri Tombs

An ancient tomb from the Three Kingdoms period near the Naju National Museum

These are 12 ancient tombs from the Three Kingdoms period scattered across the low hills stretching from Jamisan Mountain, located east of Daean Village, Naju, to the west.

The Daeanri Tomb Group includes Tomb No. 4, a 7th century Baekje stone chamber tomb, and Tomb No. 9, a large tomb with a surrounding moat (a groove around the tomb), which was common in ancient Japanese tombs. Together with the keyhole-shaped tombs distributed in the Yeongsan River basin, these tombs demonstrate the profound influence that the tomb culture of the Yeongsan River basin had on Japan's tomb culture.

Most of the other tombs are those of indigenous Mahan forces that existed before Baekje advanced into the Yeongsan River basin, and their construction dates are estimated to be from the late 4th century to the early 5th century, which is relatively early among the Bannam Tombs.
