KoreaJinju City

Jinju, where fierce fighting took place during the Imjin War
Located in the southwest of Gyeongsangnam-do, Jinju has historically developed as a key location in the southern region of Korea. To the west of Jinju is Jirisan Mountain, from which the clear water flows through Jinyangho Lake and into the Nam River, which runs through Jinju. Jinju silk, a specialty product made using this water, accounts for 80% of the silk produced in Korea.

One of the highlights is Jinyang Lake, an artificial lake, from which you can get a panoramic view of the beautiful lake surrounded by beautiful nature. There are several bridges over the Nam River, which flows from the lake to surround the city center, and at night, each bridge is lit up, with beautiful lights reflected in the river. In addition, the Jinju Nam River International Floating Lantern Festival is held every October on this river.

Along the river is Jinju Castle. This was the site of a fierce battle during the Imjin Waeran Invasion (482-XNUMX), and ruins from that time remain. Wol-asan Mountain, located to the east of Jinju, is a relatively low mountain with an elevation of XNUMXm, and it takes about half a day to hike to the top and back, making it a popular place of relaxation for the city's residents. Cheonggoksa Temple on the west side of the mountain is also famous.

When it comes to food in Jinju, Jinju Bibimbap is the most famous, and unlike other types of bibimbap, it contains yukhoe.
