Pohang-si (포항시) is a port city on the east coast of North Gyeongsang Province.

Pohang City was originally a fishing port, but since the establishment of POSCO (Pohang Steel Works) in the early 1970s, it has developed into one of Korea's leading industrial cities. It is home to POSCO (Pohang Steel Works), one of the largest in the Orient, and Pohang University of Science and Technology, which is famous in the field of technology, and the port of Pohang handles a lot of steel-related imports and exports.

For transportation, there is Pohang Station of the Korea Express Railroad (KTX), and there is Pohang Express Bus Terminal to Seoul and Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal to Busan, Daegu, etc. Also, ships to Ulleungdo Island depart from Pohang Port every day.

Winter flavors of Pohang, Korea! Guryongpo Gwamegi (dried raw pacific saury) and snow crab are the specialties of this city. Homikot, located at the easternmost tip of the Korean peninsula, is also famous as a place to see the first sunrise of the year.
