Guryongpo, Pohang, is a port town that flourished 100 years ago due to fishermen who immigrated from Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. Today, about 50 Japanese houses remain, and with the opening of the Guryongpo Modern History Museum in 2012, the Japanese House Street, where many Japanese houses are gathered, was beautifully renovated and has become one of Pohang's leading tourist destinations.

Highlights of the Japanese House Street include a Japanese-style coffee shop called Furusato, and the residence of Zenkichi Hashimoto (from Kagawa), built in the 1920s and now a modern history museum. Also, Guryongpo Park is located on a hill in the center of the Japanese House Street, and the port of Guryongpo spreads out before you.
