Jeongdongjin

Jeongdongjin is located about 18 kilometers south of Gangneung along the east coast, and was named after the ferry located due east of Gwanghwamun in Seoul, South Korea.

Jeongdongjin is home to Jeongdongjin Station, which is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the station closest to the sea in the world. Jeongdongjin Station was the setting for the TV drama "Hourglass" in 1994, which had a viewership rating of over 60 percent, and has become a tourist attraction visited by many tourists. In particular, on New Year's Day (January 1st), the station is crowded with many tourists who come to see the first sunrise of the year.
