After the unification of Silla, in 828 (the 3rd year of Heungdeokwang), Jang Bogo established Cheonghaejin in the Jukcheong-ri and Jangja-ri area with 1 soldiers and monopolized trade and cultural exchange between the Tang Dynasty of China and Japan, making the island so prosperous that it was called the maritime kingdom.
In particular, Jang Bo-go became widely known to the general public after the KBS drama "Emperor of the Sea," which depicted his life, was aired in 2004. The filming locations where the drama was shot at Cheonghaepogu in Daesin-ri and Sillabang in Bulmok-ri vividly convey the streetscape and life of the Unified Silla period, and are still visited by many tourists today.
